Introduction
Well since I won’t have anything for Nintendos and Sonys conference up til tomorrow probably, I thought I would post this just now. I did watch EAs conference but with Ubisofts, I can only say what I have read up on myself.
EAs Press Conference
EAs conference started started off with a trailer for Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and as soon as their conference starts, we get some Criterion people out with some quick information such as Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit allows you to play as both the racer and the cops. We then get to see some gameplay from it and it looks sweet.
Next up is Dead Space 2, We see a gameplay demo but at the end… if a cliff hanger where we need to see the Sony conference for the conclusion to it. Yes a gameplay demo with a cliffhanger Well done for Sony/EA/Whoever thought that was a good idea honestly.
Next up is stuff on Medal of Honor, it is leaving World War 2 and going into Afghanistan. Now I’m sure people are thinking “Yeah, like that’s new” or “I prefer World War 2″ or something like that but I think this conference is worth checking out just for what comes up next…
A 24 multiplayer live demo. Now that is very interesting and nice to see. Not often a company actually get 24 people on stage to play the game at the same time. I thought that was a very nice touch. After this was see a quick trailer for Medal of Honor.
Now we are told about Gun Club and that they will get first access to news, events, demos, betas etc (gunclub.ea.com).
Next up we see a trailer for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 – Vietnam.
Next up is Peter Moore with EA Sports stuff starting off with EA: MMA and telling us alot of stuff about that. After that we have EA Active 2 which seems to be multi-platform and will use kinect, wii mote and what I’ll assume until told otherwise is the Playstation Move.
Next up is Madden stuff with a trailer about evolving and Madden is evolving. I didn’t care about Madden that much honestly so if your interested, check out the IGNEntertainment youtube channel and look for EA Press conference end of part 2/part 3.
Next up is a talk about the Sims 3, free will and stuff like that. Main point of this section is, the Sims 3 is coming to consoles. After a trailer, that is everything Sims wise done.
Next up is Crytek with Crysis 2 with a gameplay demo. It honestly looks very good honestly although that’s coming from someone who has only played 2 minutes of the original Crysis when I was playing some games at a LAN gaming center. Finally we see a 3D trailer of Crysis 2.
Now we see people from “People Can Fly” showing a new game called Bulletstorm which is out in February, 2011. The girl, Tanya who is told to describe the game describes it exactly as “You do cool shit so you can unlock more cool shit, I mean it’s pretty much a circle of awesome really.”
Next we see a gameplay demo of it, it has alot of needless swearing and some cheesy/bad dialogue but it works for this game from what I see. It makes it obvious that they are not even taking themselves seriously. It’s all just about mindless chaotic mayhem like fun, I really want to get it now from what I saw, it really has me interested.
And finally, we have some guys from Bioware to talk about Star Wars: The Old Republic. We hear that every player will get his/her own star ship which will either be a mount or player housing in traditional MMO sense (or perhaps both?). They then talk about people can choose either Light or Dark sides and then talk about the PvP experience of the old republic. Saying pick a side, are you a jedi or sith, etc etc etc. I found this interesting but besides that I’m waiting for Guild Wars 2… I rather not pay per month to play a game. Maybe that will change sometime in the future but as of now… that’s how I feel.
Finally we see a trailer for it (Cinematic, not gameplay trailer) and that ends EAs conference.
Ubisofts Press Conference
All I’ll be able to tell you here is what games were there, you’ll have to go to see it at gamespot whenever they get the video up there (I tried looking before I wrote up this post) so what I’m saying here is taken from message boards with people that were watching it live.
We start off with a Kinect music game, I think it was Child of Eden?
There is also Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, Shaun White Skateboarding, a Laser tag like game? Motion sports like stuff as well. Then there is Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and Drive: San Francisco. Next is something called Project Dust with no other information and then the biggest surprise for me, RAYMAN, apparently a side scrolling possibly co-op game? I’ll look into this more at a later date.
Finally there is some weird Michael Jackson game? That’s all I gather from what I read.
Conclusion
Seems like EA had the strongest conference during Mondays E3 stuff with Microsoft coming last, I wonder how Nintendo and Sony will do tomorrow. Nintendo have a new Zelda game to show off along with the 3DS so their hardcore fanbase will be very happy most likely and if they show Golden Sun DS again.. I will be VERY happy.
As for Sony, if it’s like the last few years, expect stuff from the PS3, PSP and PS2 (I wonder if this will be the year the end the PS2 and stop talking about it). I expect stuff from the Playstation Move but I will reserve Judgement on it til I see it and what games they have to show for it.
