Introduction
Welcome to my first article on Pax Prime, a convention that takes place in Seattle. Today I have quite a few links which I think will interest readers who don’t hunt the internet all day for news, instead you can get most of the important news and links right here.
Hothead Goes Hands On with Two New Games at PAX.
http://www.gamasutra.com/view/pressreleases/62597/Hothead_Goes_Hands_On_with_Two_New_Games_at_PAX
Well this may not be big news or anything (well I haven’t heard of those games til now) but some people may be interested. I will say though, that DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue is certainly umm… interesting. I wonder how that game will work out.
Duke Nukem Forever
http://blog.pikimal.com/geek/2010/09/03/piki-at-pax-the-duke-he-has-returned/
Yes, Duke Nukem Forever, one of the biggest vaporware titles has returned… finished being shocked yet?
I honestly think a lot of people will be disappointed in it since it’s been 12 years of development time with the game not being released and in an age with so many FPS’ on the market that are released in only a few years… I can’t see many people NOT being disappointed in it.
I will indeed be getting the game though, I was a big fan of the older Duke Nukem titles and after 12 years of development, I might as well get it and see how it has turned out.
New Mortal Kombat game screens
http://www.gamershell.com/news_101982.html
I am very interested in this myself, I am a little skeptical at the deep story mode of any fighting game bit but if it ends up being as good or better than BlazBlues story mode (which I thought was much better than most fighting games) then I’ll be very impressed.
LOTR War In The North screenshots
http://www.holyfragger.com/multiplatform/action/lotr_war_in_the_north/news/?a=1628
I didn’t even know a new Lord of the Rings game was being made but it sounds good. I guess I’ll check it out when it comes out. Still there is some screenshots for people to look at.
Lego Universe Goes Gold and new screenshots
http://www.gamershell.com/news_101940.html
Another thing I haven’t heard of and actually went a bit “what the… ” at. Since it’s an MMOG that is designed for lego fans, I’m guessing it is a subscription game but then again it may not be. I guess I’ll look into it as it gets closed to release but for lego fans, I’m sure you’ll enjoy the new screenshots.
Fable 3 preview at GamePro
http://www.gamepro.com/article/previews/216362/pax-2010-fable-3-hands-on/
Now this is a game I’m really trying not to get excited for considering how excitement can lead to disappointment. Still I like what is said about the game and I may end up getting it when it comes out.
I haven’t played Fable 2 much (although I played it quite a bit during the first few days after it came out) but I really should go back to it and play it more before Fable 3 comes out… I wonder if this will be the last Fable or will there be more to come from Lionhead Studios.
Fear 3 Trailer
http://www.gamershell.com/news_101956.html
I don’t know much about the Fear games but there is a nice trailer you can download at the link above.
Killzone 3 release date
http://www.psu.com/news/9678
Well there is some good news for Killzone fans, I’ve not played a Killzone game before but I did like what I saw from previous trailers so I may end up getting it.
Bastion is Supergiant Games’ first title, playable at PAX
http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/02/bastion-is-super-giant-games-first-title-playable-at-pax/
I’m certainly interested here and if the game is good, maybe that will mean good things for the new development studio. It is always good to support new development studios I usually say, let’s hope this game does good things for them.
Conclusion
Quite a bit there from PAX, I wonder if we’ll have any more big announcements or news over the next few days but for today, I think Duke Nukem Forever is probably the biggest announcement today and it may end up being the biggest announcement of PAX, we’ll see over the next few days.
