From Beneath The Underground #4- How Pink can you be?

All right, it has been a while since I last done this but I got something really good for you guys. In this installment, I present a rarity that goes by the name of Pink Section and the title of the album is called Collected Recordings.

Now, Pink Section is an art punk band from San Francisco and they played from 1979 to 1980. An art punk band? I know that sounds weird but that is what they were. Yes, they are an art punk band as they do have a punk vibe to them but their music is somewhat weird and artsy as well. Nevertheless, the combination of punk and weirdness goes pretty well together. There are ten tracks from this band- seven LP songs and three live versions. Here is a listing of the tracks:

1.) Shopping

2.) Tour of China

3.) Wine World

4.) Midsummer NY

5.) Flat Dog

6.) Part Time

7.) Francine’s List

8.) Jane Blank(Live)

9.) Francine’s List(Live)

10.) Been in the Basement for 30 years(Live)

Unfortunately, there isn’t too much out there about this band since it barely lasted a year.  Still though, the material given by Pink Section is pretty high quality. There is a high vitality and energy to each and every song on here. My favorite song out of the ten songs presented is Francine’s List because even though a list of woman’s clothing is the main subject of the song, the sound around it is really good and strange in my mind and this band gets this song to work.  Other songs to really check out on here are Wine World, Midsummer New York, and Shopping.
