Introduction

Well, you can see a bit of a change here from my last post on GW2, the personal story overview. I decided to adopt the format of my News Round-up posts where I have an intro, the articles and a conclusion.

So what do we have today? A new profession revealed. (Please note though: I’ll of course assume you have read through the article since this is me discussing the article, just like in the personal story overview post)

Now, let’s see what i can say here about the new profession that was revealed and was also the most likely candidate for the next reveal anyway, The Warrior.

First off, the first and second paragraph will be familiar to Guild Wars fans, the adrenaline system. It doesn’t look too different except that built up adrenaline will make the attack more powerful. If you haven’t played the original Guild Wars then the adrenaline system for the warrior basically allowed him to gain access to more skills in his skillbar that needed a specific amount of adrenaline to use that skill and other skills helped build up the adrenaline.

If you have played the original Guild Wars, you may be going a bit “What?” or “Huh?” at the addition of some new weapons or in the case of the longbow, you’ll be thinking “Why is the longbow considered a weapon for Warriors now?”

The first three weapons are the same as in the original but then we come to the next one, a mace? That’s a new weapon for the warrior and some may like that (since I know some people just love macing people) but I doubt it will get me away from my warriors beloved sword.

The next weapon, the Great Sword might however seeing as it’s a sword but bigger. I’m actually surprised by the addition of the Great Sword seeing as how the other sword is still just called sword and not “short sword” or something like that. Still I may try it out when GW2 comes out.

Now the next weapon is one I’ll be trying out. In the original Guild Wars, one of the things I tended to do was to lure enemies to the party with a longbow and I think most others (mainly the ones who used heroes/henchman) tend to do the same but now the longbow will be a main weapon for the warrior that we can use to shoot (with fire!), I like the way they are going with it. I also figure a lot of warriors use longbows to lure, then why not add it as a main weapon for the warrior

The final weapon is the Rifle… yes you heard me, the Rifle. From previous trailers and concept art, it was already obvious that there were going to be guns and now we know that Warriors can use the Rifle. It also seems to be an ideal way for pulling monsters to the party or just away from his little group.

Warriors have special skill types now as well. Stances are now toggle skills which sounds good, I’m curious as to what stances warriors will get now. Chains are very interesting now, when I first started GW, one of my favourite combos happened to be server artery and gash and now I’ll get to use it as a proper chain that only takes up one skill slot.

Banners, I’m a bit skeptical of. I just need to see how that works in practice before I can say they are good or bad. Shouts are the same as in GW1 where you can use shouts to buff you party (like the original GWs “Save Yourself”) along with shouts to debuff enemies. Finally, Charge skills… I was kinda expecting something like that as warriors you expect would be able to charge a skill which includes say, spinning your hammer around to attack a bunch of enemies and charging makes it more powerful. Hope that makes sense, but I’m not saying it’s bad, infact it is quite good but I’m just saying I expected something like that.

Finally, the skill videos. They are fantastic and the combat and animations look perfect in my opinion, I love the look of the charr in those videos and I thought Charrs would be a perfect candidate for showing warrior related skills.

Conclusion

Unfortunatly, due to me not feeling up to it, I didn’t put in the other article that was put up today, the article on traits. I apologise if anyone is feeling annoyed by that but I thought I would get this up anyway just with the profession stuff, and also give a link for those who want to see the article on traits: http://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/combat/traits-overview/

I love the look of Guild Wars 2 and both Eles and Warriors have me interested so I am now unsure of what I want to play when GW2 comes out… and chances are I’ll be even more unsure as more professions are revealed.
