Hello and welcome to what I’m calling Nostalgia World 1-1. Over the course of this blog, I will be reviewing old games, up to and including the Dreamcast era, and maybe some of the GameCube/PS2/Xbox original era, if there are specific requests for me to review games from that time period, even though it isn’t technically retro-gaming.
There will also be times when I’ll talk about how some games have had a large effect on the industry as a whole, as well as exploring how games have changed throughout the years. I’ll also be nattering on about how genres have changed, and whatever other thoughts I’ve had about gaming as long as it fits under my criteria of discussing retro gaming.
I’ll be updating this blog hopefully every Thursday, not entirely sure what time, but hopefully between midday and 5 pm GMT. So check back every week for more of my usual insane ramblings on games. I’ll try and keep it topical, so if there’s a remake of a game coming out or a sequel or something, I’ll review the original the week before the next iteration comes out, to give a perspective on it.
If you have a particular request for a review or an opinion on something, like how godawful the N64 controller was at times, then feel free to ask away, either in the comments section or via emailing me at delta_medusa (at) hotmail.co.uk. I’ll do my best to accommodate your request as soon as possible, and to the best of my abilities, but some things I just can’t do because I don’t have the capability (such as reviewing old arcade games found only in Japan).
Lastly, this is going to be a very informal blog with a very chatty style, as you may have already guessed, so if you’re expecting a very serious blog all the time, you’ll probably be disappointed. There will be a lot of serious topics, such as what I perceive to be the decline in storytelling in games and the lessening difficulty in games, and suchlike but I figure that the best way to communicate my point effectively will be to just chat about it and make jokes about it. I’m always up for inciting a discussion, and will happily accept criticism and suchlike, so if you have a comment, again, either post in the comments section or email me. Don’t worry, I won’t bite, but if you post up saying something like “l0lz, j00 are the stupidz”, then you won’t get anything more than a “lol k” in reply. With that in mind, enjoy reading Nostalgia World 1-1!
